Industrial Engineering is a rapidly developing and broad professional discipline. It deals with design, installation, operations and management of integrated systems of men, materials and machines drawing upon specialized knowledge of physical and social sciences and technology. It especially deals with managerial problems requiring knowledge of fundamental science and engineering practice for their solutions.
While manufacturing industry has a wide scope and demand for Industrial Engineering, increasing numbers are finding satisfying employment in other kinds of business, hospitals, Hotels, Banks, Air Lines engage using Industrial Engineers. The increasing role of MNCS and expert oriented industries; with added emphasis on quality management has significantly enhanced the demand of industrial engineers. 
Industrial Engineers serve as a bridge between management goals and operational performance. They are more concerned with increasing productivity through the management of people, methods of business organization, and technology than are engineers in other specializations, who generally work more with problems or processes.
Department of Industrial Engineering and Management offers the degree courses, taking into consideration the technical and professional requirements of the discipline and prospective employer organizations. The department is equipped with adequate number of laboratories in the fields of Quality Control, Computer lab. with sophisticated software’s and Time and Motion Studies. The department has also launched a postgraduate degree program since 2004.
